Favorites!

This morning as I was talking to Titus, my 2 year old, I was having one of those inward squealey moments.  Those moments when you are feeling" OH MY GOSH YOU ARE SO FANTASTIC" and I love you so much!  As he was talking I thought " HE is my FAVORITE child".  Now before you freak out at what I just said bear with me . . .

An hour later Hadassah was making her funny cheeky faces and I thought " See this is why she is my FAVORITE child!".

The other day ( and often) Kadin was looking for how he could help me.  His brother needed a drink and he was scurrying to get it for him before I needed to.  That is just how he is and I thought " He is my FAVORITE child!".

Caleb was chatting with me and went into a deep overview about his thoughts about some verses in the Bible because that is how he is and I thought "He is such my FAVORITE child!".

Isabella was napping in my bed yesterday and I crawled into bed with her to take a nap and she rolled over and woke up just enough to smile a sleepy smile, wrap her arm around my neck and say" I love you, mama" before going back to sleep.  Isabella, you are my FAVORITE child.

Bailey is a little comedian and has me in giggles.  As we laugh together I think, " Oh Bailey, you are my FAVORITE child!".

You see each of my children is my FAVORITE child.  It is an incredible thing to have six children and have each of them be your favorite, to love them so much it hurts, to be willing to die for them and to be able to feel that way about each of them without it taking away from how you feel for the others.

This morning as I was pondering it I saw the smallest glimpse of God loving each of us.  It was a revelation, one where you sort of grasp it for a second before it slips away like a vapor.  I am God's FAVORITE.  He as the perfect parent feels that way about each of His children.  That feeling that makes him leave the ninety-nine sheep to look for the one.

10 “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven. 11 For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost.
12 “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying? 13 And if he should find it, assuredly, I say to you, he rejoices more over that sheep than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray. 14 Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish.

Father, help me to love others and to remember that they are your favorite too.
