Baby on the way!

But not mine ;)
Clayton and Vanessa are expecting!
Some of you will remember the beginning of this year when Vanessa ( Stephen's sister) lived with us and we had lots of wonderful wedding craziness. They are very excited and so are we.
Please be praying for Vanessa as she is suffering from all day morning sickness right now.
We spent the weekend at the ranch enjoying them both.
The kids loved the animals, especially the horses. Though we have a couple little girls who are not fond of dogs and we are working on that.
Uncle Clayton is the best. Both of my girls have loved him from the start.
I think they may be destined to marry cowboys ;) and if they are anything like Uncle Clayton that would be just fine with us.

Letters and Uncles

Titus and I were sprawled on the kitchen floor making letters in a notebook - just having spontaneous learning time this morning. I was showing him how to write an E and then how to make an e. He was doing a great job writing them.
Trying to explain how they are both Es, I told him this is a daddy E and this is the baby e.

I can see his mind working as he looks at the paper for a minute.

" Yeah and mommy- as he scribbles out some shapes- these are the uncles!"

Mama juice

When we were able to bring Gabric home Hadassah was so fascinated with him. She was in awe of everything about him. And she was especially curious about the whole nursing experience. After I explained and showed her that the baby was eating, her eyes lit up and she said " baby eating mama juice".
Now whenever he nurses she gets a knowing smile and nods her head and confidently says "mama juice".

Heritage 2

Bailey has been emotional for a week about being left out of "grandma time" quiet times. We have been struggling through reading and till yesterday I would just encourage him that as soon as he could read his Bible independently we would make him his own special spot. Well, it occurred to me that if he wants his alone Bible time I need to figure out a way to make it happen. So :) Bailey now has his time listening to the Bible on audio. We listen to it on Bible Gateway on the Internet.

A Heritage

For as long as I can remember my mama has spent her early morning in Gods Word. I can picture her in various houses we have lived in with tea or a latte and the Bible. Usually - if there is good weather - sitting outside, the sun working its way up over the horizon, and morning dew still glistening.

Well we were privileged to have my parents live with us a year and then the kids and I also lived with them for one of Stephen's deployments. My children all have a picture of Grandma having her time with God. They would even help her make her Lattes some mornings.

This week Caleb was sitting on our back porch and I sat next to him and we realized it would be the perfect place for "Grandma time". He got excited about the thought and much planning took place. He would need a place to sit. What would he have to drink ;) an important part of the picture. So with some work and some chocolate milk, Caleb and Kadin both have their own spot to seek God in the morning.

What an amazing blessing to have parents/grandparents that love God and seek after Him.

Proverbs

My son, if you receive my words,
And treasure my commands within you,
So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
And apply your heart to understanding;
Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
And lift up your voice for understanding,
If you seek her as silver,
And search for her as for hidden treasures;
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord,
And find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord gives wisdom;
From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
He guards the paths of justice,
And preserves the way of His saints.

Trials and God's abundant grace

Continuing our story of the last couple months . . .

I had started a post recounting more of what we have gone through and realized the focus was all wrong.

I want to be able to share how God has blessed us and shown us grace.

Gabric within a couple weeks was able to be off all meds and oxygen. He has grown into a chubby, very content baby. We are so blessed to have him in our family.
I was worried about him bonding because he was in the NICU and there was a day I couldn't even hold him. Instead he is such a mama's boy :D
He loves to snuggle and is all smiles whenever I make eye contact.

When we were going through the hardest time of the last few months ( I had hemorrhaged twice , had my milk dry up, brought my milk back in, got a breast yeast infection, all while trying desperately to teach my baby to nurse)
I went into my bedroom and looked down at my baby. My eyes filled with tears and as they ran down my face I told him " you are so worth it!!!! All the difficulty is like nothing compared to you".

And then in that quiet moment my heart felt God show me " and so are you".

I don't understand it but I am worth it to God. Not because of me but because of his love.
Despite all the trouble I am He loves me and sent His Son to save me.
